In June 1950, the communist country North Korea went southward across the 38th parallel boundary in attempt to take over South Korea the noncommunist country. I responded by sending U.S forces under General Douglas MacArthur and the UN. In the war the we were pushed back to the southern part of the Korean peninsula, but General MacArthur wanted a victory. MacArthur and his army drove North Korea northward to the Yalu River boundary. Thousands of Chinese troops then poured into North Korea, pushing the fight once again. North Korea later surrendered.
In 1948, the morning after my presidential election, the news read “DEWEY BEATS TRUMAN”. Although political writers, polls, newspapers, republicans, and even some democrats expected me to lose the election, I pulled through and proved to be the more worthy a president. In the biggest political upset in U.S history.
Bess Truman, who was my wife, was born in 1885, at 117 west ruby street, in Missouri. Her father was held many public offices, including county treasurer, as well as helped make her to who she is today. She was a very independent woman who new a lot about politics. She wasn’t a normal stay-at-home wife, she was the co-founder of a very successful flour mill. She never really did have a strong feminine side, as she was always teased in school for being somewhat of a tomboy. All in all, she was my wife, and I loved her dearly.
After elected president, my wife took on many challenges as the first lady of the United States. She had a packed agenda at luncheons or teas, she normally had two or more engagements a day. Many of my co workers and friends called Bess the, “down-to-earth”, first lady. That was a Cool story bro, wont it. Now u know bout me i wants to knows bout you aight.

The Truman Doctrine
During my Presidency, we feared that Communism would spread from one country to the next. We knew that once a country fell to Communism, its neighboring countries might also fall. Soon Communism would spread throughout the world. In a speech to Congress, I urged that the United States act to support countries that did not convert to Communism, in order to contain its spread. My idea was called the Truman Doctrine. It also consisted of Marshall Aid, which was money that the United States offered to all European countries for rebuilding and resisting Communism.

World War II
When I became President, the United States was in the middle of World War II. With my approval, on August 6th, 1945, the United States dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan during World War II. Three days later, On August 9, we dropped a second bomb on Nagasaki. These were the only atomic bombs ever used in war and against people. Authorizing the bombing was one of the toughest decisions I’ve ever had to make.
Ending the war and saving American lives were my main reasons for approving the decision. There was no plan to drop these atomic bombs until we pleaded for Japan’s surrender and were turned down. I believe that if it weren’t for this bombing, the war would have continued, and ended in destruction throughout America. This action ended the Pacific War, and therefore World War II. My first words to the citizens of America were, “The Japanese began the war from the air at Pearl Harbor. They have been repaid many fold.”
The bombing in these two major Japan cities caused tremendous destruction. 90,000-166,000 people were killed in Hiroshima and 60,000-80,000 in Nagasaki. We dropped these atomic bombs on two of Japan’s main cities devoted to war work. Six days after the detonation over Nagasaki, on August 15th, Japan surrendered.

Introduction
My name is Harry S Truman, and I was born in Missouri on May 8, 1884. I am the son of John Anderson and Martha Ellen Truman. My wife is Elizabeth Virginia Wallace Truman and Mary Margaret is my only child. I attended the University of Missouri and the Kansas City School of Law. After college, I worked as a salesman and farmer. I was always interested in politics, and after serving as a judge in Missouri, I ran for and won a seat in the United States Sentate in 1935. I continued to work as a Democratic Senator until 1945. Later, I was elected Vice President to Franklin D. Roosevelt. Only 82 days after assuming Vice Presidency, Roosevelt died. On April 12, 1945, I was sworn in as the 33rd President of The United States. I was elected for a second term in 1948 and served alongside Alben Barkley, my Vice President. Throughout my years in office, the decisions I made were crucial for the United States. For example, I approved that two atomic bombs be dropped on Japan during World War II. I was also the first candidate for Presidency to receive over 24 million popular votes. When I left office in 1953, I was admired and liked by the American people.
