During my Presidency, we feared that Communism would spread from one country to the next. We knew that once a country fell to Communism, its neighboring countries might also fall. Soon Communism would spread throughout the world. In a speech to Congress, I urged that the United States act to support countries that did not convert to Communism, in order to contain its spread. My idea was called the Truman Doctrine. It also consisted of Marshall Aid, which was money that the United States offered to all European countries for rebuilding and resisting Communism.

I am Dwight Eisenhower and I experienced a similar situation during my presidency. When I was president, the cold war was going on and I was worried about the spread of communism as well. I think the Truman Doctrine was a great idea. It helped stop the spread of communism which was very helpful for when I became president.
